News: Why Atiku, Peter Obi, Saraki Held Meeting In Dubai – APC Reveals

November 05, 2018 0
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Peter Obi, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus, travelled to Dubai for “sinister purposes”.

This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, on Sunday.

Nabena dismissed reports that the four men went to Dubai to “plot strategies to oust President Muhammadu Buhari” in next year’s election and urged security agents to be on the alert.

“The purpose of the said meeting is both comical and ridiculous as they have held several meetings for the same purpose in Nigeria.

“Clearly, the meetings held in Nigeria did not yield their desired results, hence, a follow-up meeting in Dubai.

“But we know the way of these set of politicians and the political party they represent.

“There is more to the meeting that meets the eye. Nigeria has enough meeting/conference rooms, many of which meet international standards. It is therefore clear that the Dubai meeting is for other sinister political purposes ahead of the 2019 elections.

“Our intelligence, anti-graft and security agencies must be awake to its responsibility of investigating the Dubai meeting.

“Cash and carry politicians must be prevented from moving illicit cash around to induce voters and sponsor election violence and rigging.

“Again, relevant agencies must check suspicious movement of cash both locally and internationally by politically exposed persons under the guise of a ‘Dubai meeting’ or any clandestine meeting.

“We are mindful of how millions of dollars were confiscated in an aircraft belonging in a Nigerian PDP sympathizer in South Africa in the leadup to the 2015 elections.

“The case of N250 million cache found in Peter Obi’s private office in Lagos remains unresolved.

“Another round of election is here and it is not unlikely that they are playing a repeat performance, under the guise of holding a meeting in Dubai.

“Our security agencies should be on the watch for a stitch in time saves nine,” the statement read.

November 01, 2018 0
Aggrieved APC aspirants posing with Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday hosted aggrieved aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded party’s primaries across the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those in attendance at the dinner included aggrieved gubernatorial, National and State Assembly aspirants who failed to secure the party’s tickets in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, cabinet ministers and other presidential aides.

The president had on Oct. 13 met with aggrieved members of the House of Representatives under the platform of the APC.

NAN reports that Buhari had also met collectively and separately with aggrieved serving APC governors who expressed reservations over the conduct of the party’s primaries in their respective states.

Prominent among the aggrieved governors are Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun and Rochas Okorocha of Imo.

The National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, had on Oct. 21, in a statement by his press secretary, Mr Simon Ebegbulem, alleged that conservatives within the party are ganging up to pass a vote of no-confidence on him.

APC Vs PDP: Why Atiku will become president in 2019 – Ihedioha

October 10, 2018 0
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Emeka Ihedioha has expressed confidence that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will win the presidential election in 2019.

Last week, Ihedioha emerged as Imo State Governorship Candidate of the party.

He won the contest with a total of 1,723 votes to defeat the Senator representing Imo East senatorial zone, Samuel Anyanwu, who came 2nd with a total of 1,282 votes.

The former House of Representatives deputy speaker, in a statement on Tuesday, signed by his spokesman, Chibuike Onyeukwu, described Atiku as a “catalyst for Nigeria’s progress”.

He said: “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a leader who understands Nigeria very well and no doubt has what it takes to tackle the numerous challenges bedeviling our country.

“He is a founding father of our great party, whose trajectory has enriched our democracy. He is a statesman, who is humane and has excelled in all human endeavours.

“I am confident that he will reunite our sorely fragmented nation for the collective wellbeing of all Nigerians.

“I urge all Nigerians to rally round him and the Peoples Democratic Party to provide the much needed leadership towards realizing the Nigerian Project,” the statement added.

APC loses Zamfara as INEC bars party from fielding candidates for 2019 election

October 10, 2018 0
The All Progressives Congress (APC) will not field candidates for all elective positions in Zamfara State in the 2019 general elections.

This followed a declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC in a memo explained that APC failed to meet the October 7 deadline for conducting primaries to elect candidates for the elections.

The letter signed by the acting secretary of the commission, Okechukwu Ndeche, was addressed to APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The letter titled, “Failure To Conduct Party Primaries in Zamfara State Within The Stipulated Time Frame” reads: “You would note from the timetable that the conduct of party primaries is scheduled to take place between 18th August and 7th October 2018.

“Kindly also refer to the last schedule communicated by your party to the commission on the dates of party primaries nationwide, including Zamfara vide your letter Ref. APC/NHDQ/ INEC/19/18/51 dated 3rd Oct. 2018.

“However, report received from our office in Zamfara State shows that no primaries were conducted by your party in the state, Notwithstanding that our officials were fully mobilized and deployed.”

INEC said based on the provisions of Section 87 and 31 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), “the commission does not expect that your party will submit names of any candidates from Zamfara State.

“For clarity, our position is that the All Progressives Congress (APC), will not be fielding candidates for the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly Elections in Zamfara state for 2019 general elections.”

The Zamfara chapter of the APC had split into camps headed by Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, and Senator Kabiru Marafa.

Yari wanted Mukhtar Idris, the state commissioner of finance, to succeed him, a situation which put the entire primaries in disarray.

With this development, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which has already picked a former member of the House of Representatives, Bello Matawalle, as its governorship candidate for the 2019 elections, may take over the state.
